An eagerly-anticipated comic book console caper will also be heading to mobile phones, it has emerged.

Pocket Gamer reports this week that Lego Batman will not only be made available for PC, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 2 and 3, but will also be a downloadable game for Apple iPhone and other handsets.

The site notes that the game is one of its "most anticipated current console games" and welcomes the news that Lego Batman will be given a special makeover for mobile phones.

However, the site notes that at the moment there is little or no information on the release and that it has not been made clear who will publish the title and if it is scheduled for launch alongside its console incarnations on October 31st.

"But we can only begin to imagine just how much fun a Lego Batman iPhone game is going to be," the site adds.

This year has been a busy one for DC Comics' Caped Crusader, the second instalment of the Christopher Nolan-directed Batman movies - the Dark Knight - was released in July.

Earlier this month, the film became the second largest-earning movie in the US of all time, passing 1977's Star Wars, but staying some way behind 1997's Titanic, according to SuperHeroHype.com.
