A video game classic has been given a makeover for users of Apple's mobile phones, it has emerged.

According to Pocket Gamer, users of the new iPhone 3G can now get their hands on a new version of Frogger - a game which first appeared on Apple computers back in 1983.

Frogger involves players guide frogs through streets avoiding a range of hazards along the way and despite its simple premise has proved to be popular since its initial release over 25 years ago.

"On iPhone, directing your frogs through traffic and across platforms can be done one of the three ways; by tilting the device, flicking your finger across the screen, or tapping in the desired direction," the article advises.

Apple's first mass-produced microcomputer, the Apple II, was one of the first platforms for Frogger and the game soon made its name on video games systems including the Atari 2600 and 5200, the Commodore 64 and VIC-20, Nintendo's Game Boy Advance and Colour and the Sega Megadrive.
